Vol. 388 No. 4

Written Answers. - Priority Developments.

51.

asked the Minister for Justice in view of the delay in processing applications at present in the Land Registry Office, if he will ensure that priority will be given to applications for developments with job potential, such as factory sites and mushroom or poultry projects.

The position in relation to delays in the Land Registry was outlined in my reply to a Dáil question on 22 February, 1989 — Columns 1173-4 of the Official Report.

The Deputy will, of course, appreciate that it would not be possible to give favourable treatment to any particular category of applications except at the expense of other applications. I am informed, however, that as a matter of policy the Land Registry will try, as far as possible, to expedite cases in which the applicants or their solicitors bring to attention the fact that special circumstances of urgency exist. Accordingly, a request for expedition in any such case will be considered if details of the reasons for urgency are submitted to the Land Registry.
