Vol. 388 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

144.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in issuing a tax rebate to a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and when the rebate will be made.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the claim for a refund in this case cannot be processed until corroborative particulars of the taxpayer's pay and tax in relation to her employment in the United Kingdom are supplied. The taxpayer was advised of this requirement when she phoned the tax office on 13 December 1988 but she has not yet furnished the required information.

As the year 1988-89 has now ended, the question of the taxpayer's entitlement to a refund of tax falls to be determined by way of a review of her liability for that year.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will re-examine the tax rebate due to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 17 as the amount of the rebate to be paid falls short of the amount which this person considers due; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that a tax official called on both the taxpayer and her former employer on 7 April 1989. The position was explained fully to the taxpayer who now accepts that there is no further refunds due to her for 1987-88.
