Vol. 388 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tax Collection.

152.

asked the Minister for Finance (a) the total amount of tax owed by the self-employed, including farmers, in County Wexford in January 1988, (b) the total amount collected from that sector in County Wexford during 1988, other than that collected under the tax amnesty, (c) the total amount collected from County Wexford under the terms of the tax amnesty, (d) the number of individuals or companies from the county who availed of the amensty and (e) the amount of income tax paid by PAYE workers in County Wexford in (i) 1987 and (ii) 1988.

I have been informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the statistics sought at (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e) of the question are not available. However, as regards (e), information is available for 1987 and 1988 regarding the amounts of PAYE tax remitted by employers dealt with for purposes of that tax in the Wexford tax district. These amounts are £14.7 million for 1987 and £15.3 million for 1988.
