Vol. 388 No. 5

Written Answers. - Kerry Coastal Erosion.

169.

asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to serious coastal erosion taking place in many areas in County Kerry; and if the Government have any plans for dealing with this serious threat.

The Commissioners of Public Works are empowered to undertake coast protection works in response to proposals made by local authorities in accordance with the provisions of the Coast Protection Act, 1963. While a number of proposals have been made by Kerry County Council, none has yet progressed to the stage where works could commence.I am not as yet in a position to say when this stage might be reached.
