Vol. 388 No. 5

Written Answers. - Unleaded Petrol.

172.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, following the exhortations of the Minister for the Environment in respect of the use of unleaded petrol he has corresponded with all the semi-state bodies under his aegis directing them to use unleaded petrol in all of the petrol driven vehicles which are under the control, ownership or leasing of those semi-State companies; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The semi-State bodies under my aegis have been made aware by my Department of the Department of the Environment's campaign to promote the wider use and availability of unleaded petrol. I should like to point out, however, that the decision of whether to use a particular type of vehicle or fuel is a matter for the day-to-day administration of the bodies concerned.
