Vol. 388 No. 5

Written Answers. - Specialised Education Accommodation.

283.

asked the Minister for Education the reason there is no place available in a specialised unit for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 who has a severe speech disorder and who is unable to attend a normal school; and the plans she has to respond to his need and to the needs of the increasing number of children on waiting lists.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave to a question on 28 February 1989 in relation to the person in Dublin 11 who has a severe speech disorder. I understand that the updated assessments requested by the school have not yet been furnished. I wish to repeat the assurance that on receipt of these assessments every effort will be made to have the child enrolled next September.
