I have indicated the funds will be made available to post-primary schools to introduce German, Spanish and Italian into their curricula. It is intended that such financial support will take the form of payment in respect of part-time teaching hours.
Statistics in relation to the number of teachers of specific subjects are not readily available in my Department but I anticipate a significant increase in the teaching of the subjects referred to as a result of this initiative.
