Vol. 388 No. 5

Written Answers. - Rescue Service.

29.

asked the Minister for Defence if the off-shore search and rescue patrol off the west coast of Ireland is functioning to his satisfaction; if the aircraft is up to the required standard for such flying missions; and if the necessary crews are available at all times to fly those missions.

Limerick West): This whole question is at present the subject matter of a detailed study by the Review Group on Air Sea Rescue Service under the chairmanship of the former Garda Commissioner, Mr. Eamonn Doherty.

My Department's contribution to the search and rescue service involves the Naval Service and Air Corps and the situation will be taken into account in the study.
