Limerick West): The Magazine Fort in the Phoenix Park was taken over by the Office of Public Works in July 1988. That office intends to carry out a feasibility study on the restoration of the fort with a view to opening it to the public. It has not, however, been decided to locate a military museum there.
The question of establishing a military museum has been under consideration for some time. Having regard to the nature of the undertaking and the substantial resources which would be required an early decision is unlikely.
