Vol. 388 No. 8

Written Answers. - Place of Detention.

156.

asked the Minister for Education if a place can be obtained urgently in St. Joseph's, Clonmel, County Tipperary as recommended by the Justice for a person (details supplied) who was sentenced in the children's court on 10th April 1989, who has since broken the terms of his bail and whose parents are fearful that he will come to serious harm.

I understand that the person referred to was recently remanded on bail until 28 April 1989 in proceedings before the Dublin Metropolitan Children's Court. My Department has been in touch with St. Joseph's Special School, Clonmel, County Tipperary, and I am hopeful that subject to the outcome of the Court proceedings a place in the school can be obtained for him.

Question No. 158 withdrawn.
