asked the Minister for Education, in view of the subsidence of the roof over a classroom at St. Benedict's School, Grange Park, Raheny, Dublin 5, which occured over one-and-a-half years ago and as a result the schoolroom in question is boarded up thereby presenting a ghetto-type appearance to the school, if she will make the necessary finance available to the board of management in order that these repairs be carried out immediately.

asked the Minister for Education, with regard to window repairs, painting, and general repairs on St. Benedict's School, Grange Park, Raheny, Dublin 5, when it is proposed to make the necessary finance available in order that the board of management carry out the necessary repairs to the school.

75.

asked the Minister for Eduction, in view of the large number of windows broken at St. Benedict's School, Grange Park, Raheny, Dublin 5, and as the board of management have applied for a grant from her Department to have broken windows repaired with macralon, if she will make the necessary finance available, as three estimates have been submitted to her Department and the windows have been broken and boarded up for the past two years.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 73, 74 and 75 together.

(a) In July 1988 the architects engaged by the chairman of the board of management of St. Benedict's National School, Grange Park, Raheny, Dublin 5, informed my Department that when remedial works arising from a fire in one of the classrooms were being undertaken it was discovered that the reinforcement bars to the roof had become exposed. In October the Chairman's architect submitted quotations for the works necessary to deal with the problem. My Department are urgently considering the question of the sanction of a grant in consultation with their professional advisers and will convey a decision to the school authorities at an early date.

(b) The general scheme of improvements referred to by the Deputy has been completed with grant aid from my Department. The chairman of the board of management of the school has applied for a supplemental grant in respect of these works and this is being considered in conjunction with the examination of the final account which was submitted to my Department on 30 March 1989. A decision will be made in this respect at an early date and the appropriate grant payment issued.

(c) My Department have recently sanctioned a grant in respect of the provision of makralon windows at the school where required and have authorised their professional advisers to advise the school authorities to proceed with the works. The application for grant aid was received in my Department in January 1989.
