Vol. 389 No. 1

Written Answers. - Radio Reception.

75.

asked the Minister for Communications if, in view of the IRTC's recommendation for County Kerry, he will grant the use of medium wave facilities to the recipients of local radio franchise in County Donegal in view of the difficult terrain and the small number of people with receivers capable of receiving the FM band.

The Independent Radio and Television Commission recently requested a medium wave frequency for allocation to the successful applicant in the Donegal area. Planning of the medium wave band is progressing with a view to identifying and successfully coordinating internationally suitable frequencies to meet the requirements of the commission for local radio services, including the Donegal service area.
