asked the Minister for the Environment the number of official testing locations for air quality operated in Dublin city during the winter of 1988-89; the number of observations at those centres where daily readings exceeded 250 mg; the number of occasions at those centres where the EC standards were breached in any way; and if he will make a statement on the way in which this compares with the preceding winter.

There are 12 stations monitoring smoke and sulphur dioxide in Dublin city. Data from these stations for the winter of 1988-89, i.e. the period from 1 October to 31 March, is being processed at present and the full results will be available shortly.
