Vol. 389 No. 7

Written Answers. - Rathdowney (Laois) School.

185.

asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to an acute accommodation crisis at the recently opened vocational school at Rathdowney, County Laois, arising from enrolments for 1989-90 in excess of 200 new pupils; and in view of consequent overcrowding, if immediate sanction will be given to the construction of an appropriate number of permanent classrooms on site.

My Department has recently received two applications from County Laois Vocational Education Committee for the provision of additional accommodation at Rathdowney vocational school. One application is for temporary accommodation to cater for an anticipated increased enrolment next September, while the second is in respect of additional permanent accommodation at the school. Both applications are now being examined in my Department.
