Vol. 389 No. 7

Written Answers. - Off-Farm Income Limit.

92.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the steps he intends to take to eliminate the off-farm income clause from applicants for cattle headage, suckler cow and beef cow schemes.

There is no off-farm income limit in the EC suckler cow premium scheme. The legal implication of the recent High Court decision are being examined by my legal advisers. The abolition of the off-farm income limit would involve the Exchequer in an extra annual cost of £8 million before EC recoupment or £4 million after recoupment is received in the year following the year of expenditure.
