Vol. 390 No. 1

Written Answers. - Health Board Charges.

130.

asked the Minister for Health if he will clarify the situation regarding charges in each health board area in relation to services such as the operation of the drugs refund scheme, mortuary charges, job application charges and medical card appeal charges; his policy in this regard; and whether any health boards are still pursuing such individual cases.

I issued instructions in January last to each health board to desist from the levying of any charges for administrative procedures such as processing drugs refund scheme applications, job applications, medical card appeals and Elll forms for visitors to EC countries. My Department has been informed by each health board that any such charges have been withdrawn and that no individual cases are being pursued.

I understand that the Midland Health Board charge undertakers for certain mortuary services.
