Vol. 390 No. 2

Written Answers. - Donagh (Donegal) National School.

33.

asked the Minister for Education, having regard to the long history of disappointment and deep concern on the part of the school committee, parents and school children and the urgent need for proper school facilities, when moneys will be made available to commence building of the Donagh national school, Carndonagh, County Donegal.

41.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in approving a new replacement school building for Donagh national school, County Donegal where there are over 70 pupils in two chalets for several years; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 33 and 41 together.

I accept that conditions at Donagh national school, Carndonagh, County Donegal are unsatisfactory and I have, therefore, approved the provision of a new school. It is my intention that the new building be provided at the earliest possible date.

The chief primary school's architect recently visited the school and had full discussions with the chairman of the board of management. He also briefed the school's architect on the accommodation schedule for the new school.

I intend that there will be no unnecessary delay within my Department regarding the planning of the project.
