Vol. 390 No. 2

Written Answers. - Funding of Southern Health Board.

70.

asked the Minister for Health if he will consider the transfer of a sum of money from the national lottery to the Southern Health Board to prevent the closing of hospital beds and hospital wards and the complete breakdown of the health services in that area.

Provided that sensible and realistic measures are adopted by the Southern Health Board, the 1989 allocation to the board is sufficient to ensure that the basic fabric of the health services in the board's functional area remains intact. In view of this the question of national lottery funding does not arise.
