Vol. 390 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Kildare Rates Support Grant.

32.

asked the Minister for the Environment if the total amount of residential units in County Kildare is taken into account in determining the amount of rates support grant payable to Kildare County Council; whether he will include any further housing units in the valuation; the effect, if any, in terms of extra rates support grant of such a measure; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

While the income from rates applicable to the valuation of domestic dwellings and agricultural land had a bearing on the initial determinations of the rate support grant, the amounts of grant have been adjusted arising from a variety of factors affecting local finances over the years, including the abolition of certain levies and the termination of liability for certain local loans fund repayments. Changes in the number of residential units is not a factor in the amount of the grant.
