Vol. 391 No. 6

Written Answers. - Social Employment Scheme.

46.

asked the Minister for Labour if persons taking part in the social employment scheme who are married men are eligible for the higher rate of payment.

A standard wage of £60 per week is paid to each participant in the social employment scheme. The additional allowance of £25 is paid only to those who would be entitled to an adult dependant allowance from the Department of Social Welfare if they remained on the live register.

The rate of £60 will be increased to £65 and the allowance of £25 will be increased to £27 with effect from 24 July 1989.
