Vol. 391 No. 7

Written Answers. - Waterford Teagasc Office.

52.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will ensure that the Teagasc office, Cork Road, Waterford is retained for educational purposes relating to agriculture and that it is not sold on the basis of commercial considerations.

As the Deputy is aware from a comprehensive statement I made to the Dáil on 25 January last the programme submitted to me by Teagasc in December last, and the broad thrust of which I accepted, included various proposals for rationalisation of its activities arising from the amalgamation of the research and advisory services. It is a matter for Teagasc to consider how any surplus assets arising from rationalisation should be disposed of.
