Vol. 392 No. 2

Written Answers. - Oldcastle (Co. Meath) Public Lighting System.

74.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received any proposals from Meath County Council to improve the public lighting system in the town of Oldcastle; and, if so, the action he proposes to take in the matter.

Proposals for the improvement of the public lighting system at Oldcastle have not been received in my Department from Meath County Council.

Primary responsibility for the improvement of public lighting on non-national roads generally, including the roads in Oldcastle, rests with the local authorities and the cost is funded from local resources supplemented by the discretionary grants provided by the Department for such roads.
