Vol. 392 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin School.

178.

asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties experienced by a secondary school (details supplied) in Dublin 9 with a travel firm; if the matter has been satisfactorily resolved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the problem to which the Deputy is referring. It relates to difficulties experienced by a travel agent in securing hotel accommodation for a group from the secondary school in question who wanted to travel to the Soviet Union.

My Department have been informed by the travel agent concerned that, despite his best efforts over a long period, the tour had to be cancelled because of circumstances beyond his control and that the deposits paid were refunded in full to the school. I understand also that the position was explained fully, in writing, to the school by the travel agent some months ago.
