94.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the moneys from the proceeds of the national lottery which have been made available to date to his Department; and the allocations which have been made to date by his Department.

In 1989 the Government allocated £750,000 from national lottery funds for the scheme of grants to voluntary bodies in the social services area. These funds have been allocated to 100 such voluntary organisations throughout the country.

In addition an allocation of £50,000 was made available from national lottery funds for a special pilot scheme of assistance to voluntary organisations providing opportunities for unemployed people to become involved in their activities.

Grants amounting to £46,437 have to date been approved under this heading for 43 voluntary organisations involved in community and social services activities.
