This group's proposal to abstract water from Lough Rea has been rejected by Galway County Council. Approval of this scheme by my Department is subject to agreement between the group and the county council regarding the abstraction and supply of water to the group.
Galway County Council have recently submitted new proposals to supply water to the Kilnadeema group and these are currently under discussion between my Department and the local authority.
