Vol. 392 No. 3

Written Answers. - Kilcock (Kildare) School.

136.

asked the Minister for Education whether the Estimates for her Department for 1990 will allow the placing of the tender for the building of a new secondary school in Kilcock, County Kildare.

156.

asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the provision of a new co-educational secondary school at Kilcock, County Kildare; the remaining planning and development stages before the actual work on site begins; if provision is being made for the project in the context of the 1990 Estimates; when she intends the project to go to tender; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 136 and 156 together.

The current position is that the architectural planning of this project is at Bills of Quantities stage of my Department's design team procedures. The bills have been prepared and are at present being examined in my Department. The next stages of the procedures provide for the invitation, examination and approval of tenders prior to the commencement of construction work on the site.

The Deputies will be aware that no specific provision is made for individual capital projects in my Department's Estimates; such provision be made on a global basis. I am not in a position at this stage to state when tenders may be invited.
