Vol. 392 No. 4

Written Answers. - Rationalisation of State Agencies

35.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will outline any proposals he has for rationalising the number of State agencies with responsibility for job creation.

I am on record as stating that we have too many State agencies dealing with different aspects of industrial development and related matters. I have instructed my Department to examine how rationalisation can best be achieved. That is being done in the context of the review of industrial performance, required by the Industrial Development Act, 1986, which is now being undertaken and which will be published early next year.
