Vol. 392 No. 5

Written Answers. - Facilities for Disturbed Children.

59.

asked the Minister for Health if he will report on the delay in providing facilities for severely disturbed children at Scoil Árd Mhuire, Lusk, County Dublin; and when the new facilities will come into operation.

My Department have been informed by the Eastern Health Board that they have been in negotiation with the Department of Education for the purposes of acquiring Scoil Árd Mhuire, either in whole or in part, for use as a residential facility for children and adults with a condition of mental handicap combined with difficult or disturbed behaviour. I understand that these negotiations have not been finalised and the Eastern Health Board are not therefore in a position at this stage to indicate when this facility will come into operation.
