Vol. 392 No. 9

Written Answers. - Louth Land Registry Application.

47.

asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay in processing the transfer order conveying the fee simple interest from Drogheda Corporation by the Land Registry in the case of persons (details supplied) in County Louth; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this application was sent to the Land Registry on 23 May 1988.

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that there is at present an unavoidable delay in completing registration of transfer order cases due to the pressure of more urgent applications. In general, they are dealt with as the need arises — such applications are usually not as urgent as other applications as registration of title takes effect retrospectively from the date of vesting under the order.

I am informed however, that it is the policy of the Land Registry to try, as far as possible, to expedite cases in which it can be established that special circumstances of urgency exist and any such case will be specially considered if details are submitted to the registrar.
