Reception of RTE television programmes is primarily a matter for RTE. RTE recognise that television reception in Castleshane has been less than satisfactory. The area receives its signal from the Kippure transmitter in County Wicklow.
A new aerial system at Kippure was installed during the summer of 1989 and the new system has been in service since early October. RTE are currently evaluating the performance of the new system and it is expected that an improvement in reception in the Castleshane area will be achieved.
When this evaluation has been completed RTE will decide what further improvement, if any, can be provided in this area.
