Vol. 393 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Cork School Bus Route.

194.

asked the Minister for Education the plans which exist for a school bus route (details supplied) in County Cork, in light of the recent suggested proposal to change existing school bus routes.

In the organisation of school transport services, routes must be planned in such a way as to ensure that as far as possible, every eligible pupil has a reasonable standard of service from the standpoint of time tabling and distance from the route, while at the same time that vehicles are utilised to the maximum efficiency. In order to achieve these two aims, services are examined periodically and changes made whenever appropriate.

In this context, the service on the route referred to is at present being reviewed. I am asking my office to communicate to the Deputy the outcome of the review in due course.
