Vol. 393 No. 8

Written Answers. - Portlaoise General Hospital Staff.

164.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the need to provide additional nursing staff at the General Hospital, Portlaoise, County Laois, where the present staff are overworked and finding it difficult to cope; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There are no staffing proposals in relation to this hospital at present before my Department for consideration. The Midland Health Board are the authority responsible for the management of hospital services in Portlaoise and I understand from the board that the staffing situation there is being kept under review. Any staffing proposals which may be brought forward by the board will be given sympathetic consideration by my Department.
