Vol. 393 No. 10

Written Answers. - Muslim/Islamic (Dublin) National School.

96.

asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that an application to establish a Muslim/Islamic national school in Dublin has been made to her Department on behalf of the Islamic community in Ireland; the progress which has been made in this regard; when the negotiations will be completed; when the application will be granted; when the school will open and be operational; the number of pupils it will cater for; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Officials from my Department on a number of occasions have met with representatives of the Muslim community regarding the establishment of a school under the Rules for National Schools.

However, no firm proposals regarding the establishment of such a school have as yet been submitted to my Department for consideration.
