asked the Minister for Education the status of the higher education grant for a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary who is attending the College of Commerce, Rathmines, Dublin 6 for a degree in business studies.

It is understood from Tipperary (North Riding) County Council that the person in question was awarded a category A grant of full lecture fees plus £1,280 in respect of maintenance and other expenses for the 1988-89 academic year, in accordance with the provisions of the higher education grants scheme for 1988. This is the maximum rate of grant. The grant was renewed at category A rate (full lecture fees plus £1,318 in respect of maintenance and other expenses) for the 1989-90 academic year.
