Written Answers. - Employment Schemes.

41.

asked the Minister for Labour under which Government each of the following employment schemes were originated: (1) the employment incentive scheme, (2) the Teamwork scheme, (3) the social employment scheme, (4) the scheme for waiving employers' PRSI contributions for new employment and (5) any other scheme to provide employment.

The information requested by the Deputy is set out in a tabular statement which I propose to circulate.

I would point out that changes have been made in the conditions of the schemes from time to time. In addition, a number of smaller programmes were introduced from time to time by ANCo and the YEA.

Finally, State-sponsored bodies other than FÁS, e.g. the IDA, operate schemes having a major bearing on employment.

(Formerly the grant scheme for youth employment under the Department of Education from March 1977. Relaunched as Teamwork in 1985)

(3) Social Employment Scheme

(4) Employers PRSI Exemption Scheme

(This scheme is operated by the Department of Social Welfare)

During the income tax year 1986-87 and 1987-88. A new scheme is now operating from 23 October 1989

(5) Enterprise

(Formerly entitled the enterprise allowance scheme)
