Vol. 394 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

110.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange for payment of reactor grants to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim.

118.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will arrange the early payment of tuberculosis reactor cattle compensation to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny where payment is due in respect of tests carried out in August and October 1989.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 110 and 118 together.

Delays in payment of grants have occurred recently through a combination of factors such as staff shortages and the disruption of work occasioned by the recent transfer of the Department's accounts branch to Cavan. In addition the funds available for reactor grants were nearly exhausted and a Supplementary Estimate was recently brought before the House to relieve the situation.

Payment of the grants to the persons named will be made as soon as possible.

111.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a cattle headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The cattle file of the person named is with field staff at present in connection with the inspection of his herd. If his application is found to be in order after inspection, he will be paid his 1989 beef cow, EC suckler cow premium and EC special beef premium schemes grants in due course.

112.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a farm improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow.

The application is being processed and the payment will issue as soon as possible.
