Vol. 394 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Discipline.

151.

asked the Minister for Education if she collects any data or conducts any surveys on severe disciplinary incidents in Irish schools, similar to the recent national survey of teachers in the United States which showed that 20 per cent had reported having been threatened by students during the previous year.

Surveys of the type mentioned have not been carried out by my Department. Members of the Inspectorate and of the Psychological Service of my Department are in regular contact with schools and are often consulted about incidents of the type mentioned.
