From information available to my Department, arts officers/arts organisers are employed by Cavan, Clare, Donegal, Kilkenny, Laois and Mayo County Councils and by Limerick County Borough Corporation. Arrangements are at present being made for the appointment of an arts organiser to serve Galway County Council and Galway County Borough Corporation. While financial assistance is made available by the Arts Council to encourage such appointments, the creation and filling of such posts is a matter for the local authorities concerned in the first instance.
