Question:

450 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Education the names of the public relations or consultancy companies employed by her Department in 1989; and the fees paid to each of them.

During 1989 consultancy services were provided to the Department of Education by the following:

Oracle Ireland Ltd. (£89,000);

Hewlett Packard Ireland (£217,000);

Punch and Programming Services (£875).

These services were used in connection with the computerisation of the examinations system.

System Dynamics (£418);

Ernst & Whinney (£604);

Institute of Public Administration (£10,000).

Pembroke Public Relations who were appointed by the Minister of State in connection with Cospóir, the National Sports Council (£17,610).

The amounts paid to each are shown in brackets.
