Vol. 395 No. 3

Written Answers. - Land Registry Application.

John Fahey

Question:

139 Mr. J. Fahey asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay in having a Land Registry transaction completed for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and when completion will take place.

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this is an application for registration of a deed of exchange involving subdivision which was initially lodged in the Land Registry on 7 November 1989. The application was rejected on 1 December 1989 and the documents were returned with queries to the applicant's solicitor on the same day. It was relodged on 16 January 1990. Due to pressure of work generally, there is at present a delay in completing such cases in the Waterford section.

I am informed however, that it is the policy of the Land Registry to try, as far as possible, to expedite cases in which it can be established that special circumstances of urgency exist and any such case will be specially considered if details are submitted to the registrar.
