Vol. 395 No. 3

Written Answers. - Scientific/Technical Information.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

67 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the agreements which have been made with the Government of the United Kingdom concerning the sharing of scientific/technical information in the areas of the environment, energy and the marine.

There are no formal bilateral agreements with the United Kingdom in the areas specified in the question. However, co-operation does take place within the framework of international agreements to which both countries are party. An example of such co-operation is the joint action undertaken within the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) which has led to the publication of a report on "The Status of Current Anthropogenic Influences in the Irish Sea" as part of the ICES co-operative research series.
