Vol. 395 No. 6

Written Answers. - Examination Rules.

John Bruton

Question:

203 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education if she has made any rules, in the last ten years, (a) appointing times and places at which examinations will be held, (b) defining the qualifications of the students who may present themselves for examinations, (c) defining the subjects and nature of examinations, (d) regulating the notice of intention to sit an examination and the fees for examinations and (e) fixing the numbers and amounts of prizes and exhibitions which may be awarded at examinations; if, in all cases, she complied with the provision of section 6 of the Intermediate Education Act, 1878, which requires that all such rules shall, within three weeks after they have been made, be laid before Dáil Éireann; and, if not, the reason.

The Rules for Secondary Schools, which include rules relating to examinations, are made each year in pursuance of the Intermediate Education (Ireland) Acts, 1878 to 1924, and are presented to the Dáil and Seanad pursuant to section 6 of the Intermediate Education (Ireland) Act, 1878.
