Vol. 395 No. 9

Written Answers. - County Wexford School Transport.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

299 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education, in relation to the school transport service to Kilnamanagh Church of Ireland National School, Gorey, County Wexford, if she has made a decision on the application of persons (details supplied) in County Wexford to have their children collected from their homes, as per representations made by Deputy Brendan Howlin in October 1989 and January 1990, in view of the fact that the collection point is more than two miles from their homes which causes great hardship to both families.

One of the families referred to by the Deputy is eligible for free transport to Kilnamanagh national school. The nearest pick-up point is, however, three miles from their home and my Department have offered a grant towards the cost of private transport arrangements to this point.

The second family in question is eligible for free transport to Gorey national school and may only avail of concessionary fare-paying transport to Kilnamanagh National School.
