Vol. 395 No. 9

Written Answers. - Wreck of Excalibur.

Patrick McCartan

Question:

119 Mr. McCartan asked the Minister for the Marine the steps which will be taken or which have been taken to remove the partly submerged wreck of the Excalibur No. SO 169 at the East Pier, Howth, County Dublin in view of the danger and obstruction being caused by the wreck.

My Department assumed legal responsibility for Howth Harbour since 1 January 1990. I confirm that the wreck lies at the East Pier and therefore does not constitute a danger to navigation to the fishing fleet, which is based on the west and centre piers. My Department are pursuing the question of its removal with the owners.
