Vol. 396 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

Michael Bell

Question:

87 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in the payment of a tax rebate to a person (details supplied) in County Louth.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that there has been no undue delay in this case. The taxpayer ceased employment on 29 September 1989 and applied to the inspector of taxes for a rebate of tax paid on 23 January 1990. The taxpayer's claim has been dealt with and a PAYE balancing statement for 1989-90 was issued to her on 20 February 1990. This will be followed shortly by a cheque in settlement for £102.46 — this represents the total tax paid by the taxpayer in the current year.
