Vol. 396 No. 5

Written Answers. - Office Closures.

Bernard Allen

Question:

63 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he intends to make resources available to ensure that the office of Consumer Affairs and Fair Trade can reopen offices which were closed last year in the cities of Cork and Galway.

As I pointed out in reply to Question No. 26 on 1 November 1989, the decision by the Director of Consumer Affairs and Fair Trade to transfer to headquarters staff who were previously assigned on a temporary basis to Cork and Galway was taken in the interests of increasing operational efficiency and optimising the deployment of resources. This remains the position.
