Vol. 396 No. 6

Written Answers. - Review of Architects' EC Directive.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

162 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for the Environment the number of submissions made to him in relation to the review of EC Directive 385 of 1985; the bodies or individuals who made each submission; and the likely date for the review.

I assume the Deputy is referring to EC Council Directive No. 85/384/EEC of 10 June 1985 which is generally known as the Architects' Directive. Article 30 of the Directive requires the EC Commission to review the Directive on the basis of experience within five years of its notification. In the context of this review, my Department invited submissions from interested parties and individuals in November 1989.

A total of 31 submissions was received. As some of these were made on a confidential basis it would not be appropriate for me to name individuals. The comments received are currently being examined in my Department.
