Vol. 396 No. 6

Written Answers. - Border Regions Tourism.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

270 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if his attention has been drawn to the decline in tourism in the Border regions; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Overseas visitor numbers to counties in the Border region have been growing since 1987 and preliminary Bord Fáilte estimates for 1989 show that visitors to the north west and midland regions, which encompass all the Border counties with the exception of County Louth, increased by over 20 per cent on the previous year's figures.
