53 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education the reason application forms for entrance examinations to the colleges of home economics were not issued at the end of January 1990 as is normal for enrolment in October; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

The position with regard to the future demand for home economics teachers is being reviewed in the light of demographic trends and resultant decline in school enrolments. The issue of application forms for the 1990 entrance examination has been deferred pending the outcome of this review.
