Vol. 396 No. 9

Written Answers. - Reenard (County Kerry) Pier.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

81 Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for the Marine if, in view of the submission already made by Kerry County Council, outlining its priority proposals in regard to port development, he will indicate his approval for the carrying out of the necessary repairs to Reenard Pier.

Kerry County Council's submission in response to an invitation from my Department for a formal input into the five year fishery harbour development programme has recently been received. When this submission and those received from other coastal authorities have been examined a decision will be taken in relation to those projects at harbours and piers, including Reenard Pier, which are considered justified in the fishery interest. I should point out that this programme is not intended for maintenance and repair works which are the responsibility of local authorities.
